Is a Student Visa for the Netherlands Necessary?
Everyone who wants to study in the Netherlands needs a student visa and residence permission from the Netherlands, except:
European Union, EEA, or Swiss citizens.
Member of the family of a European Union, European Economic Area, or Swiss national. The Netherlands does not require a residency permit for this group, but they must apply for EU Law Verification (certificate of lawful residence).
You will, however, need to register with local Dutch authorities if you plan to study in the Netherlands for more than three months.
What are the many sorts of student visas that are available to students in the Netherlands?
Visa for short-term study in the Netherlands. If your course or training is expected to last fewer than three months, you will receive this letter.
Secondary and vocational programs in the Netherlands are eligible for a student visa. In general, students from Suriname, Indonesia, or South Africa are eligible for this award, but others may be eligible as well. They must, however, have Dutch relatives and be fluent in Dutch.

How Do I Apply for a Student Visa in the Netherlands?
If you want to study in the Netherlands, you can’t do it on your own. The college or university that you plan to attend will fill out the application on your behalf.
To study in the Netherlands, you will require a temporary Dutch residence permit. You may also be required to submit an MVV application in certain circumstances (long-stay visa). This permits the bearer to remain in the Netherlands while they await the arrival of their Dutch visa.
If you require an MVV, your sponsor may submit an application to the Immigration and Naturalisation Service immediately through the Entry and Residence Procedure (TEV) (IND).
The IND must recognize your sponsor. They must have signed the Code of Conduct for International Students in Higher Education in order to be considered for recognition. This regulation assures that institutions provide international students with high-quality instruction that is both affordable and easily accessible.
How Long Is a Student Visa for the Netherlands?
A student visa for the Netherlands is only valid for the duration of your study program. A student with this document can stay in the United States for up to five years to complete their education.
In order to better prepare for the course, the student can also apply for a one-year residency prior to the start date. A one-year orientation visa is available to students after graduation, allowing them to remain in the Netherlands while they hunt for a job.
Keep in mind that you must maintain the progress of at least 50% of the required credits each academic year in order to graduate. Your student visa may be revoked if you do not comply.
Does a Dutch Student Visa allow me to work?
If you are in the Netherlands on a student visa, you are allowed to work. However, the following limitations apply:
During the week, you can only work for a maximum of 16 hours.
Only in the months of June, July, and August is it possible to work full time (seasonal labor).
You’ll need a work permit to do this. This must be procured on your behalf by your employer.
If you’re undertaking an internship as part of your degree, you don’t require a work permit. However, an internship contract must be signed by your company and your university.
If you plan to work while studying in the Netherlands, here are some additional considerations:
A citizen service number is required in order to receive payment (also known as a Burger Service Number.) After you’ve registered with your local municipality, you’ll be given a unique identification number.
Even if you don’t owe any taxes, you still have to do so. A person must pay taxes if they are regarded as a resident of the Netherlands and get income. Student fellowship/scholarships are considered income, even if you don’t receive any money.
